A Florida woman has been charged with helping her live-in boyfriend suffocate his six-year-old son while the couple played video games on Christmas Eve.
Ashley Cole, 22, helped pin the boy to the sofa at their home in Englewood, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.
The boy's father, James Dearman, 31, was charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child last week.
Cole was charged on Tuesday with principal to aggravated manslaughter of a child.
The boy, also named James Dearman, and his seven-year-old sister had been told to face the wall as a punishment for not going to bed, police said.
But after the boy was seen turning around, Cole suggested to her boyfriend they "elevate the punishment ... to squishing", according to an affidavit.
She weighs 210lb (95kg) and Dearman weighs 270lb, according to police records.
A statement from the sheriff's office said: "His son screamed that he couldn't breathe and begged to use the bathroom."
According to the affidavit, once the child stopped moving the pair went to smoke a cigarette in the garage.
When they returned to see the child was lifeless Dearman called 911 while Cole ran back into the garage to pray.
He attempted to revive the boy until paramedics arrived, according to the document.
The seven-year-old sibling was uninjured and taken into protective custody.
"When dad squished him, he got dead," the girl told detectives, according to the affidavit.
Cole and Dearman's bond was set at $1m each.
They are scheduled to be arraigned on 5 February.
