Jose Mourinho is 'very close' to Manchester United Takeover

Jose Mourinho looks to be getting closer to agreeing a deal to take over as manager of Manchester United, with latest reports suggesting that Louis van Gaal is expected to leave the club at the end of the season.

Sky Sports Italy's Alessandro Alciato tweeted on Wednesday evening that a move for Mourinho was approaching, saying: "Mourinho-Manchester United: very close agreement. That derby with City Guardiola!"
Monday's announcement that Pep Guardiola had agreed a deal to take over as manager ofManchester City at the end of the season confirmed that United had missed out on the man who was believed to be their number one managerial target, leaving Mourinho as the only 'top-level' manager available with Carlo Ancelotti agreeing to move to Bayern Munich.
The links between Mourinho and United have bubbled under the surface since before the Portuguese manager had even left Chelsea, reaching boiling point recently with a rumour - swiftly denied by all parties - that Mourinho had written a six-page letter to Old Trafford bosses explaining his desire to take over from Van Gaal.
While the existence of the letter itself was rubbished, it's considered an open secret that Mourinho has had his sights set on the Old Trafford job for a long time, and sees Van Gaal's impending departure as the perfect chance to finally achieve his goal.
