Ibinabo Fiberesima Ordered to Pay 10 Million Naira to Beauty Pageant Contestant


 
Top Nollywood actress, Ibinabo Fiberesima, who is a former president of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), has been ordered by Justice Adolphus Enebeli of a High Court in Port Harcourt to pay damages to Miss Earth 2011/12, Monachi Chineye for seizing her crown and other entitlements after winning the contest.
 
In his one hour judgment, Justice Enebeli berated Nigerians who desperately resort to cheat themselves and ordered the owner of AMC product Nigeria limited, Ibinabo Fiberesima, that the sum of N10.8million be awarded to the applicant, MISS EARTH NIGERIA 2011/2012 as damages.
 
The counsel to the claimant, Linus Ndatigh who spoke to newsmen after the judgment, explained the reasons why his client came to court, adding that their prayers were not fully taken but commended the judgement.
 
Also speaking, Miss Earth Nigeria 2011/12, Monachi Chineye said that what was happening in the world of beauty pageant was unbelievable.
 
"I thank God that the court has granted my request. What happened to me is unfortunate. I contested when I was young and I am 25 now, my dream was almost shattered. I am happy. You will be surprised to know what happens behind the scenes in every Beauty pageant. Thank God my case has been justified," Monachi said.
