A man who brutally raped a 14-year-old orphan he saw in his friend's house is in for serious trouble after an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday remanded him in prison.
The man named Abdulsalam Olayinka, 20, committed the grievous act on Valentine's day.
According to the police prosecutor, Insp. Benedict Aigbokhan, the accused went to his friend’s house and met the girl but after finding out that the friend was not around he dragged the girl to the top of the house and raped her.
“He called the victim and dragged her to the top of the house and raped her.
“The victim, who is an orphan screamed but no one in the house came to her rescue except her aged grandmother who stays with her,” the prosecutor stated.
Aigbokhan told the court that the offence was committed on Feb. 14 at No 5, Olanrawaju St., Agege.
Chief Magistrate Mr Tajudeen Elias ordered that the accused should be remanded in Kirikiri Prison and adjourned the case till Feb. 24 for ruling on the bail application.
The accused, a trader, who lives at 2, Amodu St., Agege, in Lagos is standing trial for rape.
The offence according to the prosecutor, contravenes Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
